Ubisoft Montreal have revealed some big fat juicy details about the forthcoming Prince of Persia DLC. Taking place directly after the ending of the full game, Epilogue will provide new environments, enemies, abilities and attacks. Also, as a nod to all those that thought the game was too easy, the developers have ramped up the difficulty level.
Epilogue’s associate producer, Jamal Rguigui, tells IGN that “players will discover the immense and once glorious Underground Palace which is now corrupted and where danger awaits every corner.” The DLC promises to further develop the relationship between the Prince and Elika, pitting them against a new enemy, The Shapeshifter. “The Shapeshifter is an enemy that takes the form of two of Ahriman’s most fearsome Lieutenants, the Warrior and the Hunter,” says Rguigui.
The DLC also grants Elika the “Energize” ability that restores a piece of destroyed environment, allowing players access to previously impossible to reach areas. The Prince gets a new ability too, the ‘Sprint Clash’. By hitting the Acrobatic button you’ll be able to charge the enemy, stunning them and allowing you to take the offensive. Unfortunately for him (and you), the ability is shared by your foe, which Rguigui claims makes for a new combat dynamic and a tougher challenge.
Issues regarding difficulty levels were clearly on the minds of the developers for this DLC, following accusations that the retail game was just too easy. “We understand this,” says Rguigui, “Seeing such feedback, our vision and intentions with the DLC coincided with their comments quite well. We wanted to build a challenge and experience even greater with all the tools at our disposal, and let me say that there are a lot: Elika’s power, traps, combat system, etc.”
Prince of Persia Epilogue is available to download via PSN and Xbox LIVE on Feb. 26, no pricing details have been announced.
