NYCC = the largest gathering of videogame characters?
BY Matthew Razak Feb. 3rd, 2009 More on:

Will the New York Comic Con be the largest gathering of videogame characters ever? It very well could be if the organizer’s plans come to fruition. In celebration of the release of Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2009 the NYCC is attempting to break the record for the most people dressed up like gaming characters in a single place. The current record is 342 and was set at the London Games Festival last year.

The attempt to break the record will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Javitz Center. Participants will gather together and look funny until 7:30 p.m., when the record attempt will be made. The only rule is that your character must have been featured in a videogame first. It’s fine if they have gone on to star in movies or comics, but the inspiration for said films and graphic novels must have come from a game. If you’re in New York and want a chance to be part of a world record, check out all the details here, then get working, if it’s anything like last year, there will be some amazing outfits there.
