The series that put DICE on the map is coming at us in full force at the NYCC. They have revealed not just one, but two Battlefield-themed games for us to drool over, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: 1943. BF:BC2 makes a pleasantly surprising appearance on the PC platform as its predecessor was noticeably absent the first time around. It’s described as having a “level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game.” Music to my ears.
BF:1943 looks to be a cross platform rehash of BF:1942 complete with the popular Wake map and much improved graphics and physics. The destructible environments alone make it worth while even if it is a rehash. It will be multiplayer only and available on the same platforms as BF:BC2 – PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Although BF:BC2 is not slated to release until sometime next year, BF:1943 is set to release this summer. Between these two games and the inevitable release of Battlefield: Heroes we are getting our fair share of Battlefield saturation in the next couple years. But who’s complaining, I know we’re not.
