GameStop wants you to play Street Fighter IV a day early |

I was down at my local GameStop the other day to get my pre-order for Street Fighter IV which should be one of the biggest events of 2009 for our industry, and to my surprise, the clerk said, “we should be getting our store copies of Street Fighter IV on Monday, the 16th. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to get it before 5 p.m. because of when the delivery truck will arrive.” I browsed around to different forums and boards and found that there are other reports of this as well, especially in the San Francisco area.
So, if you are secretly shaking in your chair with insane excitement at the opportunity to get your hands on Street Fighter IV a day early, head down to your local GameStop and see what they tell you. Get ahead of the curve so you can start whipping ass a day early online!

They told us we could pick it up on that day You are all dumbasses, not just that they had it. Please read the quote, they’re open well past 5 p.m. for a pick-up. Now we’re guessing they’ll probably rectify the mistake before release, but there’s always hope ;).

What else does Gamestop want me to do?
And should I listen to them?

Snag a pre-order. I’m pretty sure that is the only requirement to be able to get it, because they like to be overly strict with that stuff.

Gamestop at Linwood Plaza in Fort Lee, New Jersey is letting customers who preordered the game pick it up by noon today. One day early before the “official street date.” It’s NOT illegal to release games before a street date. That is a fact. This message was posted on Feb. 17, 2009.
The specific gamestop I am going to pick up my game from is NOT having a midnight release.

Just to clear things up. Some gamestops ARE releasing the game early.. only by 12 hours technically. It’s no big deal and they’ve done this before. No one gets fined, that’s a rumor. Look up your laws boys and girls. I can’t check here again. I’ll forget this forum. Haha. I came across it on GOOGLE.
