Mass Effect DLC and sequel details leaked, ‘Classic’ edition UK-bound
BY Lee Bradley Feb. 17th, 2009 More on:

The Future of Mass Effect documentary featured in the Platinum edition of BioWare’s intergalactic RPG has been leaked onto the net, and it’s got details of further downloadable content for the game as well as a snippet of info about the sequel.

According to the documentary, the DLC will add space station combat-arenas. Mass Effect’s principle lead designer Preston Watamaniuk says, “we had something in Mass Effect 1 that again, we weren’t able to pull off just because we didn’t have the time and we didn’t think we’d be able to do it well enough, which was a fight club or an arena. So we’re actually working on that for our next downloadable content piece and we’re hoping it’ll be really special.”

The documentary, embedded after the break if you want to watch it all, also confirms that your character from the first game will be transferable to the sequel. Which is great news for me at least, I feared Swingschlong Sheppard would never ride again!

In further Mass Effect news, the two-disc edition of the game is set to be released in the UK too, as part of the Xbox 360 Classic range. According to Eurogamer, the discounted title, complete with extra content, will hit shelves on Mar. 20 for £19.99.

Microsoft, however, are remaining tight-lipped about the news stating that there is “no announcement to be made,” which is odd when you consider word came directly from Mass Effect’s official distributor Gem. Regardless, while Microsoft scrabble around for a press release, lets go over the details. Precisely the same as the US-equivalent Platinum release of the game, the Classic edition will feature Bring Down the Sky, the very same Future of Mass Effect documentary we’ve been talking about (below) as well as music, trailers and design galleries.
