A lot of gamers would say the best way to play Street Fighter IV is with a arcade style stick in lieu of standard controllers. This near $70 investment is considered a small price to pay in order to fully enjoy the robust fighting style and combos of each character. Some people were steamed when buttons on their new standard edition FightStick started to stick and the joystick wouldn’t automatically pop back into the center when moved. We are assured by Mad Catz’s global PR and communications manager, Alex Verrey that all defective sticks will be fixed for free (including packaging and postage) as long as the warranty isn’t voided.
1UP did an interview with Verrey and learned that out of the tens of thousands of sticks that Mad Catz has shipped, it has only received less than 50 complaints. The problem with the sticks is very small and customers should get a fix quickly. Verrey thinks this whole issue has been blown out of proportion and believes some sites are bashing the Mad Catz name just for fun. Outside of repairing the sticks for free, it doesn’t seem like Mad Catz is going to offer anything else as a symbol of apology for the inconvienance.
