The Lost and Damned sets sales record, proof hijacked and held for ransom
BY Chad George Mar. 1st, 2009 More on:

Microsoft has declared that the Lost and Damned add-on for Grand Theft Auto IV had “eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox Live.” The Xbox exclusive was also the “highest reviewed downloadable content ever from Rockstar Games.” At $20 a pop for The Lost and Damned, Microsoft will have to sell quite a bit to make up the reportedly $50 million it laid out for the exclusive rights to the first two expansions.

Seeing that GTA4 has sold more than 5.2 million copies in the US, with 3.3 million of that belonging to the Xbox 360 version, there was little doubt that the first DLC would be a hit. Sadly, Microsoft did not yet supply figures for how many users downloaded the add-on. It also didn’t provide clarification on whether it was the top download in the US, abroad, or both. We could look forward to the NPD numbers to find out where the numbers actually land, but they only track sales at retail and not downloadable add-ons.

We need numbers and statistics, Microsoft! Why must you tease us so?
