Mass Effect 2 team expanding
BY Rain Anderson Mar. 3rd, 2009 More on:

The now EA-owned BioWare is forming a new studio group within EA Montreal and will be bringing in around 30 employees to work on Mass Effect 2, the company has announced. About half of those, some of whom worked on the original Mass Effect, will be brought in from BioWare’s Edmonton team, while the rest, including animators, designers and artists, will be new hires.

“It’s great that we have a strong foundation to build out of,” BioWare co-founder and general manager Ray Muzyka said while referring to EA Montreal. “There’s a great studio here continuing full-force with a whole bunch of really cool, exciting things as well.” The new group will work “in partnership with the existing EA Montreal team” and will report to Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, president and the other co-founder of BioWare.

The new team might eventually assist with the development of Dragon Age: Origins and Star Wars: The Old Republic as well.

Muzyka also revealed that BioWare has a few other irons in the fire but, beyond teasingly referring to them as “super secret projects” and saying we’ll be hearing about them at a later date, his lips were sealed.
