I Am Alive, one of Ubisoft’s new franchises, has been been dealt another blow to the possibility of ever seeing the light of day. Earlier this year, the survival-horror game originally slated for a spring 2009 release was pushed back to late 2009 or early 2010. Today the game was hit again with another round of changes which could further affect the release date.
The original developer Darkworks, best known for their work on Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, was taken off the project due to “other obligations.” Development for the remainder of the game has been handed off to Ubisoft Shanghai “in order to respect the new launch date.” Hopefully no ground will be lost as “the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year.” Sadly there were no details on what the other obligations were and exactly why they were deemed more important than I Am Alive.

well, “officially” (meaning “it’s not your buisness but we will give a polite answers because the news is now out”) you can found an answer here: http://www.gamekult.com/articles/A0000074404/
(..) the Original Dev team, Darworks, has been judge unable to deliver future milestone and their content after both decided to delay the game. Because Ubisoft would like the game to reach a hight quality level and still maintain the new delays, They decided to ask the Shangai studio to take care of (all?) it from now (..)
As gamers, i guess we can only hope the best for the game and the studios to succeed in whatever they have to do now.

@Nico: I agree. I think the one true bond all gamers have is the expectation to experience the best game possible. If the devs have to change several times, as along as the end product is worth it… that’s all that matters.
