It seems that the subtitle On Tour will be disappearing with the next iteration of Guitar Hero on the DS, Modern Hits. At least it was missing from every mention of the title in the press release. In all fairness Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits is a lot to type so maybe the PR people just got a little lazy. Modern Hits will be bringing your DSi incompatible Guitar Hero controller some more up to date music than the two previous games including tunes from Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D, Weezer, The Strokes and more. All master tracks of course, Guitar Hero doesn’t roll with cover bands anymore.
New to the game will be a non-linear progression mode where players will be able to decide how they advance their band — because the story behind each Guitar Hero has really been the driving factor for why people pick up the game. Also new will be Fan Requests. These seem to be challenges put forward by fans and when a player completes them they will not only increase their fan base, but also open up challenges that include jamming to an entire song in Hyperspeed, battling it out in a Guitar Duel with active Bomb Notes or whammying every single hold note in a song. Sounds like a bit more fun outside of the traditional not tapping experience. Still we’re guessing most people will simply be getting it for the new songs.
