Microsoft doubts Sony’s numbers
BY Chad George Mar. 9th, 2009 More on:

Last month, Sony sent out a press release letting the world know that the PlayStation Network has exceeded 20 million registered accounts, which is 3 million more than Xbox Live. Today, Stephen McGill, Microsoft’s head of gaming and entertainment in the UK, responded to Sony’s claim by saying, in short, bollocks!

McGill says that when Microsoft talks about numbers in relation to registered accounts, “we feel they’re active users who are actively engaged in all the forms of entertainment we offer on Xbox 360,” and he questions what their numbers really mean, wondering if they are duplicates. The UK chief says that Sony does what it thinks is right for its business by releasing those numbers and will do whatever they want to do. He closes by saying, “Sony do what Sony want to do… Do I believe them? No.”

Oh schnap!! Sony, you just got called out.
