Famitsu reveals Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
BY Jeremy Hill Mar. 11th, 2009 More on:

Last week Capcom promised an announcement on March 12 regarding Resident Evil that would make Wii owners “very happy.” A scan from the latest issue of Famitsu magazine has let the cat out of the box a day early by revealing the mystery game to be Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles starring Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield during the events of Resident Evil 2. The game will be another on-rails lightgun shooter and, rumor has it, it will support two-player co-op and will be a little easier to play than Umbrella Chronicles.

This technically isn’t the remake of RE2 or Code:Veronica some Wii owners were hoping for. The overall impression from fans over at the Capcom forums is rather disappointing. We’ll have more details on The Darkside Chronicles as they trickle out over the next couple days.

On-rails shooters have become the new mini-game collections. Is there room for this and Dead Space Extraction? Especially after Overkill.

Even if you are a really hardcore fan who has to buy all things RE, this is still a slap in the face to everybody who has stuck by Capcom over the years. Adding new levels to a rehash to attract sales is about as tempting as holding out a carrot to a donkey. Capcom must think we’re all donkies for supporting them this long. Instead of getting the RE2 remake we were promised, we’ll just be getting this semi-decent shooter that probably only improves on the first game’s faults marginally. It is five steps down the ladder, but only one rung up. Call it what you want, but there is no point in defending Capcom for not delivering the goods on this. The way they have wrecked RE is kind of sad. The old games were spectacular. Even RE4 was miles better than RE5 and RE5 is meant to improve over RE4. But that did not happen, did it?

I think resident evil 5 was a letdown for me, it was good I enjoyed the game but it was not what I expected. I hope and wish capcom do a remake of resident evil 2 the darkside chronicles is just going to be like umbrella chronicles have u heard anything about re2 remake cause I have heard a rumour capcom are doing a remake, weather it’s true or no I don’t know but it stated in a japanise magazine that re2 remake will have some over the sholder aiming and shooting for certain stages and a new enemy hope the rumour is true and they are doing a remake.
