Following the announcement earlier this month that BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is being ported from arcade to console in Japan, comes news of a release date. Japanese PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can get their lucky little hands on the stunning looking 2D fighter from Jun. 25.
I was lucky enough to have an - incredibly brief - taster of the game at London’s Casino just last week, one of the few places outside of Japan you can play the game. However, it was just long enough to confirm two facts; the hand-drawn 2D sprites and backgrounds look gorgeous, and I am really bad at it.
The spiritual successor to Arc System Works’ Gulty Gear series, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger promises a 30+ hour story mode, online play, animated sequences from the people behind Afro Samurai: Resurrection and future downloadable content. There is still no news regarding a western release but it’s only a matter of time, right? Come on Arc, put me out of my misery!

This looks good, but it also looks unbelievably similar to Guilty Gear.

Will the Japanese version be bi-lingual (ie English Menus)
