The Chronicles of Riddick developer diary, part three

“For me, the darkness is where I shine.” Vin Diesel is the one man in existence that makes Marcus Fenix sound like Jerry Lewis. I’d love to have his voice. Ok, so maybe it might be a bit incongruous with my skinny white boy body and English inner-city tan, but hey, my phone calls would rock.

So anyway, while I practice my best gravelly mumble, why not check out the third developer diary for The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena from Starbreeze Studios. This one discusses the varied gameplay on offer and introduces some of the enemies you’ll encounter on board the Dark Athena, most notably the Drone. Manufactured on the ship, Drones can be manipulated in a number of ways, leading to some fresh and interesting approaches to combat. We’ll leave it up to them to explain, but suffice to say the more we see of this game, the more we like (you can check out the first two diaries here and here if you are so inclined). Also, take note, this may well be the first dev diary we’ve ever encountered where the team openly describe their enemy A.I. as “stupid.”

Once you’re done with them moving pictures, check out the three new screenshots Atari sent out today as well, presumably to celebrate the gone gold announcement earlier today, just in time for the game’s April release.
