Update: 2K Games has confirmed that BioShock 2 will carry the Sea of Dreams subtitle after all. Go figure.

Original story: As far as extraneous videogame sequel subtitles go, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams isn’t so bad. It conveys the mysterious depths the player will have to explore, both literally and figuratively, upon their return to the submerged city of Rapture. And also, you know…dreaminess.

Okay, so maybe it is a little silly, a feeling seemingly shared by publisher 2K Games who have officially dropped the post colon text for sexier, simpler title.

According to 2K Community Manager Elizabeth Tobey, “You won’t be seeing ‘Sea of Dreams’ moving forward, just ‘BioShock 2.’” That’s fine by us, as we weren’t looking forward to typing that out from here until release, but part of me hopes we’ll see Sea of Dreams again - perhaps for a failed underwater utopia-inspired Disney on Ice?
