Rumor / Netflix coming to Wii?
BY Aaron Yorke Mar. 23rd, 2009 More on:

Although the Wii is this generation’s leading game console, it does have some notable weaknesses. One of those is that it’s only a game console. The PlayStation 3’s Blu-ray player and Microsoft’s deal with Netflix have provided extra value to consumers that Nintendo’s machine cannot.

Cut to today, as a Netflix survey is discovered investigating how consumers feel about movies streaming through their Wiis. While the initiative is nowhere near reality yet, a move to the Wii would make a lot of sense for both parties. The Wii would gain the versatility that Nintendo’s consoles have lacked since they opted against DVDs for the GameCube, and Netflix would gain a huge addition to their digital consumer base. The hefty operating costs associated with Netflix’s snail mail service make expanding further into the digital realm very desirable.

Whatever happened to that new Wii with DVD capabilities? Anyway, I think most of us are happy with a videogame console that just plays videogames.
