We’ve been hearing and writing about rumors surrounding the upcoming change to the PSP hardware over the past several weeks. Sony of course will never make a comment on rumors, as it is company policy, but we speak for the people darn it! Credit goes to Destructioid whose bathroom sleuthing overheard that Sony is internally calling the new product PSP Go. It allegedly has no UMD and will come in either a 8GB or 16GB version. To make up for the backwards compatibility issues Sony will have 100 games available to download at launch. The screen may be around the same size as an iPhone’s and the lack of UMD makes it a lot thinner. A release date is still anyone’s guess.

I’ll be keeping my 1st gen PSP for when I need to play Dead Head Fred on UMD again. Still the funniest damn game ever.
