We know jack squat about Sony’s upcoming gigantic multiplayer game Massive Action Game, and jack just left town. All we’ve seen is E3’s trailer and a bunch of people talking about it. There are plenty of claims out there about how it will have 256 people playing at the same time and will also be insanely good looking, but it won’t be doing any of these claims on the 360, that’s for sure. See, MAG is one of those games the 360 just couldn’t even dream of handling.
“MAG is a 256 online-player game which is spectacular,” said John Koller SECA’s hardware marketing boos when talking to VG247 at GDC last week. “If you look at that competitively, it’s something that’s only possible on PS3. The processor speed, the ability of PS3 to showcase 256 players at any given time, and their actions.”
It’s great to hear all this stuff the PS3 can do that the 360 supposedly can’t, but does anyone actually care? So far it looks like those games that only the PS3 could handle haven’t really been moving the system any faster. This also comes on the tail of plenty of claims that the PS3 is not actually that much more insanely powerful than the 360. As a final point to how dumb the “it can’t be done on the other systems” argument is, let us all take note of which system is leading the market. Yea, it’s the one that can barely do next-gen.
