Square Enix has announced that Crystal Defenders R1 and R2, already available on WiiWare in Japan, will be released in the PAL regions, R1 being released this month and R2 at a later date. Crystal Defenders is a tower defense game originally released last year in Japan for cell phones, and is set in Final Fantasy’s Ivalice universe. Except instead of towers, you use character classes from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 to defend your base. And your base is a crystal. Don’t ask, it works… somehow.

It’s nice to see Crystal Defenders see the light of day outside Japan. Now Squenix, could we get a release announcement for North America? Please?
