Videogame marketing conference announces finalists

MI6 has announced the awards finalists for their upcoming conference. What is MI6? It’s an organization based around the marketing and promotion of videogames. Their conferences celebrate the art of advertising videogames and the work that goes into such actions, everywhere from the ad campaigns to viral marketing.

The next conference starts on Apr. 8 in San Francisco and the list of finalists (PDF) looks fairly competitive with developers like Blizzard taking six categories. Of course, there are the usual categories such as, “Outstanding Overall Marketing Campaign,” and “Outstanding TV or Theatrical Campaign,” but there is also a category called “Best Wrapping – Product Packaging,” which yes, even Blizzard is nominated in. Even the Fallout 3 Experience that PAX attendees got to witness this year made it into a category. The only game missing is Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 in the “Best Limited Edition or Collectors Edition Packing” category. The limited edition version had great packaging!
