Lock up your grandmothers, the lads from Liverpool are coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii on September 9. The same day, EMI will release the complete The Beatles catalog in several flavors, including a digitally remastered version and a collector’s “mono mix.” It seems as if EMI and Harmonix are trying to make that day a The Beatles holiday, which is an oddly fitting coincidence since September 9 is also Wonderful Weirdoes Day.
The Beatles: Rock Band will follow in the same vein as previous Rock Band games by allowing players to pick up a guitar, mic, or drum sticks and rock out. Additionally, for those Beatles fans who demand full authenticity, the game will not only be sold by itself, there will also be instruments available modeled after the pieces used by John, Paul, George, and Ringo throughout their career.
No word yet on whether former Illinois Governor Blagojevich will make an appearance as the fifth Beatle.
