600,000 DSi sold across Europe and the US in opening weekend
BY Matthew Razak Apr. 9th, 2009 More on:

If anyone doubted the ability of the DSi to succeed their doubts should be put to rest now. The handheld sold 600,000 units in its debut weekend and is most likely not going to slow down. A bit more surprising than the DSi’s sales numbers is the fact that the sales were pretty evenly spread out between Europe and the US. Usually the US comes in with the big sales, but it seems that Europe is gaining some speed in the gaming world.

I’ve personally seen plenty of DSi units sitting in both Best Buys and Targets around the area so Nintendo must have actually planned ahead this time and made enough to keep it in stock. So if it isn’t hard to get a hold of one, why else are you waiting? Me? I’ve got a DS and I don’t have money.

Wow. Now I feel extra lame because I still have my first generation DS.

My DS lite is just fine. But, yeah, Nintendo has two massive hits on their hands with the DS and Wii.

In many ways it boggles the mind.
