Batman: Arkham Asylum is “close to perfect”

“It’s as close to perfect as we’ve ever come,” says Eidos marketing big wig, Jon Brooke, of the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum. “It looks amazing, plays beautifully and has a rich twisting storyline with enormous replayability. I’m confident enough to say that it will set a new benchmark for licensed games and it’s going to establish itself as one of our best games ever.”

So, there you go. Either he will be right, and this will be the definitive videogame take on the Dark Knight, or he will be wrong, and all his sweeping, grandiose claims will turn on him like a razor sharp batarang to the face. We’re hoping for the former.

Also bringing the game closer to walking on water is the snazzy Collector’s Edition that was just announced. Included is the standard bonus DVD, a 14″ statue of a batarang (which seems pretty lifed sized to me), a 48 page book of doctors notes pertaining to the inmates of Arkham Asylum and a code for an exclusive challenge map. Check it out after the jump.
