Who’s ready for some Ghetto Golf
BY Jeremy Hill Apr. 13th, 2009 More on:

Let’s face the facts people - golf is boring. It’s one of the few sports that require spectators to remain silent and show little excitement. What we need is a way to incorporate golf with something the gamers can relate to. We like action games with guns, puzzles and open environments that could be put to good use. Why not make a game called Ghetto Golf that incorporates all those things? Someone already did? No way!

Ghetto Golf is the brainchild of Chuck Brungardt who drew inspiration from the golfing childhood of ex Toni! Toni! Tone! member Raphael Saadiq. Saadiq used to traverse the streets of Oakland, CA looking for anything he could use for a golf hole. The game features a character named Vonte who plays golf on the street while fending off cops, gangsters and other street golfers. As Vonte gets better he moves on to nicer neighborhoods before arriving at a country club.

Ghetto Golf also takes combat inspiration from Gears of War and Resident Evil 4. We will shoot like Marcus Fenix and upgrade weapons like Leon Kennedy. We can also pimp our golf cart in our free time or take some drugs to slow down time for precision aiming and invincibility.

So far Ghetto Golf lives as an Unreal Tournament 3 mod. Brungardt’s goal is to find a publisher and distribute the game on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam.
