2K Marin talks BioShock 2, no PC version this year? |

Gamespot’s recent preview of BioShock 2 brings with it a 12-minute video feature (embedded below) where everyone from the lead level designer to the executive producer at 2K Marin talk about the story of the second game, things they’re planning on improving upon and how they’re going about it, and the world of BioShock and Rapture in general. It’s an interesting watch and will certainly catch you up if you haven’t been keeping up with the scraps of BioShock 2 info we’ve been fed thus far.
Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be any new in-game footage in there, though looking at the screenshots GS has obtained, it doesn’t look like any effort has (yet?) gone into making BioShock 2 a more graphically impressive game. The quality and detail of the art style seems consistent with the first game, however when it comes to graphical improvements, there does not seem to be any. Of course with a game like BioShock the graphics aren’t everything, and the first game still looks good, but it would be nice to see some more power squeezed out of Unreal Engine 3. It’s been almost two years after all.
Despite the news that hit last month about 2K aiming for a simultaneous release on all three systems, just as the feature below ends creative director Jordan Thomas says the game “is supposed to drop in Q4 ‘09 [..] for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360,” but makes no mention of the PC version. Whether there’s been a change in 2K’s release goals or if Thomas just forgot to mention it is unknown. But it doesn’t look like anything’s set in stone quite yet either way.

If they will release bonus contect with it ,I won’t blame them.
However, if it’s buggy and broken console version, damn.

I think that the real reason for them not mentioning the PC version, is the fact that PS3 version of the first masterpiece came late. What I mean to say is, the PC version is not that important as the fact that the game will release at same time on PS3 & 360. With this I’m not implying that the PC version is not important. I have PS3 and PC. PS3 version is the one I’m going 2 buy, so this was a hint I, as well as many fans of the first BS on aforementioned platform, are not going 2 wait 4 the game to get a bit old… cheers

forgetting about the pc platform in listings seems more common than ever before, I think the recent id game, wolfenstein, doesn’t even list PC on a few of their trailers. I’d be surprised if they didn’t hit the PC platform along with the rest.

now that just sucks.
why do we pc gamers constantly get the finger?
this better not be a port of the ps3/360 coppy.
there better be a MASSIVE graphical difference otherwise im going to be realy pissed.
on another note i dunno if this games going to work.
i mean running arround as a big daddy seems kind of restrictive and repetitive.
hope you can use more than plasmids rivit gun and the drill thingy otherwise its going to be boring as hell.
and add some detail to the drill have it puncturing enemies flesh.
because in the trailer it just looks like they got hit by a 100 mile an hour train.

PC won’t be delayed I don’t think, they just didn’t mention it because they didn’t care about mentioning PC because 360 and PS3 are the majority of players
I’m looking forward to bioshock 2 but also looking forward to whatever project Ken Levine is working on next as well since he was the lead designer for the first one

If they dont put the game on the pc version the sales wont be impressive. because lets face it all fps’ are best on computer (apart from KZ2 GOW2 etc) bioshock 1 on the pc is still one of the best fps’ on all platforms, if it doesn’t come to pc i might eat my own head, because i aint byin it for £40 for my PS3 because the controls they use to incoorprate the plasmids is so annoying so is changing your weapons and more. it better come to the PC IN 09!

Perhaps they believe that the amount of time that is required in order to release it on PC won’t be matched in sales. Didn’t Crytek earlier talk about skipping the PC due to piracy?

That doesn’t make sense considering every game made ever is developed on a PC. So development for all platforms shouldn’t be any different. However it probably is an oversight I doubt it wouldn’t get released for PC at the same time. Also Cryek is full of crap, they’re a bunch of crybabies and they only talked about not doing PC exclusives like Crysis and only working for all platforms.

I see. But I doubt that costs and resources wouldn’t go up if they released it for PC as well. I’m thinking optimizing, printing, manufacturing, shipping etc. Or am I speaking out of my ass?
