Daedalic Entertainment and Deep Silver have released some new media for their upcoming point-and-click adventure title The Whispered World and the game really looks worth mentioning. Adventure games like this and Machinarium are always exciting because it’s a chance for artists to really show off, since the major components are always the backgrounds and character design. TWW has some really beautiful art, some of which is quite dark in tone from what we have seen. You guide the main character Sadwick and his companion Spot through the game’s many locales and puzzles that they must solve together. The sidekick transforms which is a major part of the puzzle mechanics, and all the backdrops are hand-painted.

It makes me want to whip out a copy of Monkey Island.

The Whispered World is due out later this year on PC.
