Under Siege lacks Steven Seagal, throwing knives

Companies should really be careful when naming their games. Some come up with overly generic names (Massive Action Game), some with unnecessarily long ones (Peter Jackson’s King Kong The Official Game of the Movie), and some with ones that shouldn’t be touched at all, as is the case with Under Siege. Who can think of those two words in that order and not immediately get thrown back in time to Steven Seagal’s heydays and his greatest movie of the same name?

Is it unrealistic to expect a game based on the movie(s)? Maybe. But hey, Ghostbusters are doing it, why not Seagal? Who wouldn’t enjoy Die Hard on a battleship anyway? But no, we must unfortunately be disappointed for you see, Under Siege the game is not about the mightiest cook ever taking on a ship full of bad guys who don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, it is a real-time strategy title from Portugese developer Seed Studios. But what this PlayStation Network-exclusive lacks in Navy Seals it makes up for with a special focus on user-generated content, community features and a level editor. The game also offers a single-player mode and split-screen but we don’t really know much else about it yet. But how it looks can be checked out from these pre-Alpha screenshots. A better view in the form of a gameplay video should arrive within a month.
