Mass Effect is going mobile with Jacob’s Story

If you spent 30+ hours crusading across the galaxy, looting corpses and having scandalous sex in Mass Effect and thought you should be able to take it on the road (cinema has taught us everything is better on the road) then you’re possibly having your dreams come true. Hopefully not those kind of dreams.

A survey regarding a Mass Effect app for the iPhone/iPod Touch has, like all fun things, leaked the existence of a mobile entry in the RPG space opera dubbed Mass Effect: Jacob’s Story. Taking place before the events of Mass Effect 2 the game will center on Jacob Taylor, described as, “a biotic-powered super-soldier who stumbles across a plot to terrorize civilization’s greatest beacon of hope.” If you thought it said, “bacon,” you’re not alone. Details are scarce, but it looks to be, partly at least, a top-down shooter with looks similar to the underrated Titan A.E. (the movie) that’s supposed to offer a couple hours of entertainment for $2.99.

Of course, with this being a franchise and all, if sales are strong you can expect more to hit the app store and possibly even some mobile versions of BioWare’s new IP, Dragon Age. Let’s hope this endeavor is treated properly and not put on the lazy train like some other mobile games that will remain nameless (psst…click the link).
