Call of Duty 7 in Vietnam, Cuba? |

A source we consider reliable has told TVGB that Activision is looking to licence music for “Call of Duty 7,” music that gives some serious hints as to the locations the game may take us. Mentioned were Vietnam War era tunes, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music. The source says Call of Duty: World at War’s senior producer Noah Heller is involved, so it looks like Treyarch is once again developing.
Credibility to the change from WWII is added by Heller himself who last year said they “are showing the final battles of the Pacific and the European Theatre and that lets us put a close to the war. I’m sure game companies will be making World War II games for years to come and World War II is a very classic war. But we’re happy that we put the war to bed.”
While Modern Warfare 2 is still six months from release, someone under Activision already working on a new Call of Duty game isn’t very hard to believe when considering the cold hard fact that there’s been a new release in the series every single year since 2005, and Modern Warfare 2 will continue that tradition this year with its November 10 release.

The full out war games can wait! Get creative, go big, and please the gamers. Develop the hardcore zombie shooter that everyone is raving about. The WAW zombie game mode was a huge plus for that game… its what sold me, but to have a game with multiple maps or a bad @$$ story would be even better. Again give the wars a rest and let the zombie Apocalypse begin!

I am a Call of Duty addict and I have a question: why is it that we have to pay 65 bucks every year for a new Call of Duty game??? I believe that is overkill. There is no need for it. Call of Duty World at War should have been released THIS year in november and NOT on november 2008. This is because Call of Duty 4 is still going strong and W@W killed it a little. Its too much. Activision should release a CoD game every two years, NOT every year. CoD4 is a classic game and it should have been given more time on its own, without direct competition from CoD:W@W…. I don’t know about you guys, but I think its bs that we have to pay 65 a year to play a CoD game, plus the extra money we pay for the downloadable content..

guys, I just think that Activision is trying to milk us gamers for every penny, thats all.. I have the money, and can afford 65 bucks every year to play CoD but I just hate being taken advantage of. In a way, Activision does force us to buy the game because, lets face it, CoD4 is a masterpiece, W@W is also good even though not as good as CoD4. I know I don’t have to buy, BUT, in a way I DO have to buy. I just think these games would be more enjoyable and sell better if they were released every two years, just like the Gears of War games…

I do agree with val and yes it is overkill, COD4 is going strong but i also agree with everyone else. The fact that call of duty 4 is still going strong proovs right there that it would have been just fine to wait to get the new COD. Dont buy a new COD every year go ahead and buy every other I guarantee that each game goes strong for more than 2 years and you will always have a fast matchmaking process because there will always be more than enough players on to connect with. If you do that look at how long you will be able to play COD and have it feel new! Great idea… I do enjoy the yearly releases and am glad they do it but i enjoy new things and changes! its always fun after switching to a new game and playing it for a while to start to miss your older games! it keeps them all new… I think about halo and when 3 was released it was fun for no more than a year and now i haven’t touched the game for months and wont until a new halo FPS comes out i wont miss the game!

Battlefield Vietnam was easily the best Viet nam FPS released to date. But of course everything the Battlefield series has released has been far superior to CoD. CoD had to remove the tanks and jeeps because it lagged everyone out of existence. In Battlefield2 you can fly jets and helicopters and drive about two dozen different kinds of vehicles with zero, none, nada lag! You can play against bots that are as good or better than most humans AND even though it’s the same age as the original COD DICE is still releasing new maps and patches for it!! And to top it all off Battlefield2 and CoD are both EA games releases. I played the CoD series for 6 years and the simple fact is the only version they really got right was CoDUO. For my part I could care less what Treyarch releases I will not be ripped off by them again! Battlefield Bad Company for the PC is going to be released this winter and when it is I will never look back at CoD again!

i hope this one has a lot of blood and gore. And a zombie thing. And mabey it would be nice if u could drive cars,helicopters,trucks,4 wheelers, boats, jets skis, etc. And Mabey Tiny Go Karts. Some time i dont like shooting 24/7. and if make another zombie thing. u should make it for multiplayer. Make a city or 12 story hotel and have zombies come after u. Sort of like Grand Theft Auto 5. if u do make a zombie multiplayer deal make it so u could have a base or some fort so u could shoot them down. Call Of Duty 5 was the best game ive ever played. i love the sticky gernades and the ray gun and electric bareirers.
P.S. try to copy off of Grand Theft Auto and Battlefield 2 and turn something into the next halo.

Didn’t play WaW but it seems I shouldn’t..) CoD 4 is absolutely awesome. Internet gameplay kicks ass. I hope the new games will be made by Infinity Ward. They are superior. 6 years since the best ‘Nam game, Vietcong. They could make a series of games on Cold War. Make it a sequence - Korea, Cuban Revolution, the Che in Bolivia, Vietnam, Afghanistan 79-89. Would be awesome.
And last thing. CoD 4 was the best optimization in a game I have ever saw. It ran on my PIV 1.8 GHz, 512 RAM, Radeon 9550 256 MB, 8-year old computer on which something burns every year. Now I don’t have any working USB ports, my integrated graphics and audio card don’t work and somehow my second HDD doesn’t get detected.

Shut it val modern warfare was ok but had many parts to it that were a disgrace to the U.S.M.C. and then when you take a good look into the content in online gameplay what were your options… desert urban or forest urban… They need a game every year cause when you’re trapped on a military base all year like me you can either work overtime, like i want to, work out, or play xbox, and since halo is pretty much a pound and a half of bs you end up playing alot of CoD. Then on the subject of vietnam I think it’s a great era to go to what with the weapons ranging from late WW2 M1A1 carbines-Late Vietnam M15 Assault Carbines. And then with the terain you have big cities like saigon military base seiges like khe’ shan and mountain jungle ambushes like the 7th Cavs. being ambushed by an entire division and a half of Viet Cong and NVA regulares in the Ia Drang Valley. Plus I don’t see why they couldn’t put another zombie gameplay into it… It would be just like the map pack 2 zombie map in WaW but alot better. Another thing about the vehicles you could use is the fact that there were helecopters and jets capable of mach 1+.

I only buy infinity ward COD, WAW is HOT friggen Garbage, zombies are ok but maybe having more than 4 players would be nice. I am so amped for MW2, already preordered and took the 2 days after the release off work.
I mean if I wanted to shoot a M1A1 i’d borrow my uncles the only decent fire arm is the MP40 and it has no range, andif I wanted to drive a tank I’d play Bad Company.
Let teyarch die and roll all COD series to infinty ward, Trey arch just poilished the menus up a bit and used infinity wards engine and still screwed it up.

A change from WWII would be great, but i’d like to see more Vietnam games, Call of Duty: Vietnam would be amazing, especially if they have missions going in in Huey’s, squad jungle tactics, the the Tet Offensive, and Green Berets missions while sneaking up through swamps, the whole Rambo 2 experience. Not enough credit are give to our Vietnam Vets and a Call of Duty would make beaucoup dollars. The AI would have to be good though because games where you are hidding in plants and the bots see you are horrible. Over all i completely support COD: Vietnam!

WAW is okay. I liked the gore and love excuting surrending germans. If you haven’t noticed WAW was better then COD3, and hopefully COD7 would be better then WAW. You learn from your mistakes.
Another thing I would like to see is what IW would do with future warfare. I mean they already have scuba diving, ice climbing, and snowmobiling in MW2. Who knows what they can come up with.

If you want Infinity Ward to take over the whole Call of Duty series you will be getting a game in 3 years time after the last. By the way Call of Duty:World at War is way way way way way way better and shits all over Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. In Cod WaW you actually see bits flying off enemies. You can shoot of their legs and they will still be moving. In CoD 4 if you shoot somebody in the legs you don’t see their legs coming off, their still on the enemie and for people who say that they should make a spin-off game to the Zombie mode with a full story are just the stupidest fuckwits. There is a story for zombies on the game starting with Zombie Verruckt and continuing with Shi No Numa. If there is Map Pack 3 for World at War I can gurantee that the stroy line will continue the story line for zombies. And Colin you are a FUCKING STUPID IDIOT becuase there isn’t a Grand Theft Auto 5, dickfuck.

Well, since Medal Of Honor is making another game based on events after 9/11, MW2 will have its hands full. I think that Infinity Ward won’t do zombies, and Treyarch will in Call Of Duty 7, the only good thing about Treyarch’s CoD games will be zombies. Also Medal Of Honor: Allied Assualt(people say its the best MoH game) was co-devolped by Infinity Ward so Call Of Duty 7 will have a lot of pressure.

Treyarch has ruined the franchise of COD because of its strictly console roots and thinking.It gives no mind to the PC players of the world which, is where the multiplayer platform started in the first place.That is what made this series the foremost played FPS in the world.If Infinity Ward would make the Vietnam series I might get onboard because they are the original developers and they (seem to)care about the broader spectrum of the gaming world and not just the console jockeys.If it weren’t for the public modders and public map builders out there in the PC community the series would have fallen on its face after the United Offensive expansion.Its a shame that people of caliber that buy,play,develop,and continue to expand and spend money on this series are not listened to because of corporate greed to make another quick buck on the whole online(console and PC alike)community.I have had a Clan since the series started and it seems to me that the series has made a swing to the console side because its easier to not have to do as much for a product that is obviously flawed . It doesn’t have to continuously develop patches to correct those flaws….just make a few more pretty box shaped maps,with no depth for strategy,and put some zombie levels to keep people from noticing.Pure Bullshit.Battlefield 2 has been around just as long and still going strong….why? Because they care about and listen to the players.They want to know what it is that we find interesting abou the game and what they can do to make us happy.Not just pump out a blockbuster game by one developer and hand off they rest of the series to a mediocre one.Activision ought to be ashamed but, they are too big now and they know whats best for the rest of us.There was a time when they cared about what you were interested in and were willing to shell out $60-$65 of our hard earned dollars but,not anymore.TreyArch can suck it!

Uptowing, maybe people try matching it to COD4 because it has the exact engine running on terribly written maps(code wise). Dont believe me? Go into a game of search and destroy on COD4. hold down the left trigger while planting/defusing. You will notice that a c4 flies out of your hands instead of dropping the briefcase. Try it for COD5. What happens? You throw a satchel charge. One of the developers admitted (perhaps accidentally) that they have no idea what a map will look like before they start making it. IW makes concept art and knows what they want to accomplish ahead of time. Treyarch’s amateur code writers just throw in random objects until it looks almost passable and then they add a skin with worse graphics than COD4. Maybe people also compare them because Treyarch decided to make fictional WW2 era remakes of the attachments in COD4. Telescopic sight? Reflex sights? Suppressors, silencers, and flash hiders that all do the same thing, holding no factual purpose? They butchered any potential historical value the game could have had every chance they got. The maps have tremendously game-altering glitches, and that atrocious patch that is supposed to limit mods just fucked every semi auto rifle up the ass. What they should have done is focused more on fire team roles and customizable equipment rather than make identical perks, weapons and attachments. Maybe then the game could have been passable. And the nazi zombies mode is only good for the simple fact that they are zombies! You cant possibly go wrong with that. Plus, it just solidifies the dark, evil, almost modernized theme that they slapped over a WW2 game, which to me is blasphemy and as inappropriate as it gets for a game developer. If all of this is not enough, the Campaign gameplay is shit, the storyline is cheesy, and the climatic, cinematic moments were taken directly out of the original. (The end of the russian campaign when he stabs the flag into the sandbags) If your still not convinced, the tanks are the most unbalanced pieces of shit and ruin the multiplayer. Transport vehicles would be one thing, but they should have at least followed suit with COD4s infantry based gameplay. No infantryman can drive a tank, and no tank driver can operate the gun while driving. I could go on for hours about why Treyarch should be fired by Activision after that horrific display of incompetence, but Ill cut it short. Overall the game was just a shit stain on the otherwise prestigious title of Call of Duty. However, a vietnam setting might be better suited for Treyarch and Im confident that the game will be at least mediocre and hopefully not an abomination like World at War. It will be my five minute brake from MW2.

i hop if there is another cod after seven i hope its not some super futuristic stuff please leave that up to the halo producers unless they don’t have anything to do with aliens and monsters like it should have some future body armor added to the game but thats just me

I would really like to see a Vietnam war game by the Call oF Duty team. Shellshock 2 was horrible. JUst imagine the first mission with you in a huey coming over a rice field in vietnam.that would be sick not to mention the more modernized weapons.

@Val Beating a dead stick, but it should be said. Val, listen, IW first off never told you to buy World at War, and World at War is similar in some points of gameplay to Call of Duty 4, but ultimately different, depsite the simularity in graphics. You must understand that IW is a large gaming company, and one of their main franchises is the Call of Duty series. They wouldn’t be able to put such impressive budgets to make a spectacular new game like Modern Warfare was if they didn’t do this, big budgets means a big staff to perfect the games us gamers want to play. Also, keep in mind that gamers attention spands are low, I know I eventually stopped playing Call of Duty: MW after about a year. Meanwhile, it’s still a good game to this date. Thousands of players ’still’ play Call of Duty: MW even with CoD MW2 so close to arrive.If you cannot dish out 65 dollars or so for the new Call of Duty game, you can simply wait a month or two for the price to drop or buy a used version. Or even use Gamefly or rent the game fairly cheaply. And if you don’t wish to do that, simply play the old game, it’s still fully functional and superb, so there is virtually nothing to complain about. You pay the price so they can keep making games for you, or you pay a cheaper price for a slightly less quality used game, it’s how the economy works. So stop complaining, if you save ~18 cents every day in your year (oh god, soooooo much) you will have 65 dollars at the end of that year. Get saving.

OverThrowTeyarch, you say that telescopic sights, reflex sights, silencers, flash hiders, and suppressors eliminate any historical accuracy that CoD: World at War could have had. The truth of that matter is, in fact, that telescopic sights date back to at least the 1860’s and there were multiple weapons in World War 2 that had silencers and flash supressors. Ever seen a No. 5 Mk. I? We like to believe that weapons makers in WW2 were living in the stone age but that just isn’t true. The germans had invented the first infrared sights and also a rifle with a curved barrel to shoot around corners in the 40’s (both modification of the sturmgewehr ‘44, the first assault rifle). I do agree with you that the perks were a huge ripoff, though. I was very disappointed to see a red dot sight mounted on WW2 weaponry. Very Lame.

I think that they should keep moving up in time and go to future wars that can be predicted (nothing at all like halo) but like how bout a war before the predicted end of the world (if you’ve seen history channel its predicted that war will begin to grow larger before then) that would be cool and nothing too advanced but, upgrades to weapons. if they wont do that then a large battle in mostly snow areas would rock

i dont know about anyone else, but i have finished mw2 campaign and it is a real cliffhanger I’m really hoping for an mw2. Also they should stay with infinityward, treyarch ruined cod5- i played it for a month until i threw it out - they ruined cod’s name with world at war

I really don’t want Call of duty made about Vietnam war. Why? Because certainly, you will play as America or South Vietnam in game. But in Vietnam war, North Vietnam and Nam Vietnam’s guerrilla ( your enemy) usually very weak and few. Almost don’t have any great battle in Vietnam war exclude Tet Offensive. North Vietnam and guerrilla only use one tactic is… use some small group, follow American group ( usually is one or two section )during their operation in forest, and attack America soldier when they tired. One small battle between one section North Vietnam ( good in camouflage, melee with knife and blade, hit and run) and one section American ( good in firearm, bomber,… but weak in speed to pursue the enemy), don’t have great army, don’t have great enemy,don’t have anything exclude forest and some Vietcong lesser even yourself little group).
If game made about Vietnam war, it will more Metal Gear Solid than Call of duty ( and Vietcong became a good game because it become like that). You will never see any great scene like you have see in Call of duty 1,2,3,4,5,6. ( if you really want to see, you have to play as guerrilla, but never you can chose these enemy.). You really want play one “Call of duty” look like ” Metal Gear Solid”, will very few and very weak enemy???
Because of that, I really don’t want Call of duty make about VN war. May be they should make about Korea war.
