Nintendo downloads for the week of May 4
BY Matthew Razak May. 4th, 2009 More on:

OK, Nintendo lets put a stop to this right now. Releasing a clock and a calendar, even if they are Animal Planet themed, do not constitute DSiWare downloads. Anything like Animal Crossing Calculator (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 Nintendo DSi Points) and Animal Crossing Clock(Nintendo, 1 player, 200 Nintendo DSi Points) must not happen again, and please if it does make the WiiWare game better than Penguins & Friends - Hey! That’s My Fish! (Gammick Entertainment, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points). At least Tower Toppler (Commodore 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points) is a hard to get historically significant game.

The two Animal Crossing ‘games’ sound exactly like what they are: a calculator and a clock with Animal Crossing themes. It doesn’t even sound like they actually function with the DS Animal Crossing, though can set alarms on the clock to remind you of events in the game Nintendo says.

Tower Toppler was one of the most advanced games graphically when it came out. I’ve played it for about ten seconds, and it’s fun. Though it shows its age, if you’re a gaming historian or anything it’s worth checking out. Penguins & Friends - Hey! That’s My Fish! most likely not, though puzzle games are so hard to judge from their covers.
