We’re bracing ourselves for an all out Guitar Hero assault for later this year. Activision today announced that Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero and DJ Hero will all be out this fall. As if this wasn’t enough to overwhelm our heads and closet space, Activision thought now would be a good time to confirm the existence of Guitar Hero: Van Halen. We can look forward to our faces being melted off in the second half of 2009.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen will work similarly to Guitar Hero: Metallica in that the game will cover some of Van Halen’s greatest hits with some other bands such as Queen, The Offspring, Weezer, blink-182 and Queens of the Stone Age thrown in for good measure.

Activision even made sure to let fans know that this is pure Van Halen and not Van Hagar. There’s no word yet on pricing, consoles or additional peripherals at this time.
