It’s not often that a hot trailer showing exclusive gameplay footage hits television before the internet, but that’s exactly what happened on Sunday during the Magic/Celtics broadcast on TNT. In this case, some footage of Modern Warfare 2 included snowmobile combat and an underwater mission the likes of which have not been seen before.

Modern Warfare fans won’t have long to wait to see another trailer on television. A full trailer will be revealed on May 24th during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, also on TNT.

As videogames become more and more accepted into mainstream media, I expect we’ll see more of these televised trailer premiers. There already seems to be a cross promotion between every hit movie and a similarly dated sporting event. Such advertising deals for major videogame releases can’t be far behind.
