Though they don’t do much to enrich the world of videogames journalism, posts about the random appearance of games references make me smile.
Case in point: from advertising agency Grupo Novel’s print campaign for Capitulo VII, a Dominican Republic radio station, come these clever “Where Are They Now?” inspired images depicting Donkey Kong as a gangbanger, Pauline as a prostitute, and Mario as just another balding, bitter corporate drone, his former goomba-bashing bravado only making an appearance after too many trips to the open bar at the annual office Christmas party. So, what do 80’s-era Nintendo game icons have to do with a Dominican Republic radio station? I think I feel that smile coming on.
