In a forum post on the World of Warcraft official boards, community manager Zarhym mentions the new MMO in passing while addressing player concerns and incidentally confirms that their new MMO will be based on a brand new IP. “We’ve already stated it’ll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch,” explains Zarhym.
Shacknews reports that it was previously stated that the new MMO was using the World of Warcraft engine for testing purposes but we believe that the 5th unannounced title not related to either WoW or the new MMO was using the WoW engine for testing. We’re excited that Blizzard is working on a brand new IP for the first time in many years, but this news pretty much rules out the hope for a Starcraft MMO which leaves us a little disappointed.

Whatever it is I hope they break the mold they made (that everyone seems to pour different colored creepy crawler goop into to make new MMOs).
The “fight–> kill –> get –>fight –>kill –> get” layout is stale.
