People in North American don’t talk about SingStar too much but that doesn’t at all mean it’s incapable of being a hit franchise. Having been launched as a newcomer into the environment five years ago, SingStar has created quite the mark for itself. GamesIndustry.biz has just compiled a list of stats for the franchise and it’s impressive.

It’s sold 16 million units in the PAL region alone, with localization for Europe contributing towards making those sales numbers a reality. There have been over 4 million tracks downloaded from SingStar’s online store which houses over 1000 songs. The videogame as a whole holds a few world records including Most Successful Singing Game, First Customizable Track in a Singing Game and First Music Game to Let Players Record Their Performances and Share Them Online. That’s a lot of singing, probably terrible singing but singing nonetheless.
