Blockbuster to do online game rentals |

I think Blockbuster still exists, but I’m not sure. I vaguely remember driving by one at some point, but maybe it’s just a jumbled memory. In order to stay relevant against the likes of Netflix and, well, Netflix Blockbuster started the whole online movie rental thing with Total Access. I guess it isn’t going as well as they want it to, so they’ve decided to jump in on the gaming rental scheme.
Starting on June 30 a pilot program begin in Cleveland, Ohio where people may enjoy getting their games from them… possibly. Customers will pay per game on top of a small monthly fee. The program is going to merge with the current Total Access program and will also offer the rental options for in store games. They’ll offer PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 games. So movies and games together? Two worlds colliding. Will it work or fail?

Honestly, I love my Blockbuster!
I tried Gamefly but they suck since it is never possible to get any NEW titles unless I cheat the system. Whereas Blockbuster, I walk into the store the day of release or friday of release and there is a copy of a brand new game waiting for me! Heck, I even got the map code in package when I rented Gears 2.
So color me interested!
