Total Protonic Possibilities on the Wii
BY Matt Brooker May. 29th, 2009 More on:

The folks over at NintendoDPad got their hands on some images of a Proton Pack peripheral in the works for the Wii version of Ghostbusters. The freelancer working on the design for Intec, also the source of the leaked images, mentioned that the chance of the pack hitting stores isn’t 100% quite yet.

Once you can get over the pure weirdness of bringing a literal Proton Blaster to the Wii, the idea doesn’t seem like a completely terrible one. There are plenty Wii peripherals that act as merely add-ons or extensions of the controller, using only the existing buttons on the wii-mote and nunchuk. However, it looks as though the Proton Pack design relocates controls across the blaster for a more weapon-like feel. Assuming that is the case, and the design makes the final cut, the Proton Pack could perhaps create a unique, if not more realistic, way to experience the game.

Of course, the real question here is, “What the hell do I do with this thing once I’ve beaten the game?”

Ghostbusters LARP, here I come.
