E3 2009 / Summer of Arcade 2009 gets you hot
BY Butner Brimberry Jun. 5th, 2009 More on:

Remember last year when all those eagerly anticipated XBLA games came out one week after the next? Well, apparently when you release games like Braid and Castle Crashers they sell like cakes of hotness, so Microsoft is doing it again. Scott Austin, Director of Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade games, announced the five games that will be released each week during version two of Summer of Arcade and three of them will have you sitting on your floor, calendar in hand, praying that the middle of summer will soon arrive.

Last year the most anticipated game of the summer without a doubt was The Behemoth’s Castle Crashers. Obviously gauging that anticipation, Microsoft released Castle Crashers last in the lineup of the five total games. This year though, the most anticipated game is being released first. What game you ask? Oh, just a little game I like to call Marvel vs. Capcom 2. You may also know it by its other name: The Single Greatest Fighting Game Ever Made, Ever. The game has been completely redone in HD and will use the same online multiplayer structure that Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix uses.

The week after MvC2, XBLA will get its first exclusive of the summer in Shadow Complex. The weeks that follow will see the releases of ‘Splosion Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, and Trials HD respectively.
