Free Realms now at 2.5 million |

It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that Free Realms, the free-to-play MMO by Sony Online Entertainment, was at 1 millions users. Then a week and half later, it hit 2 million. Now, Sony has confirmed that the number of Free Realms players is growing comfortably at 2.5 million.
While the rate of growth is surely slowing, the MMO still continues to appeal. Though it is free-to-play, players are given means of carrying out microtransactions and paying for subscriptions. Also tying into a card game both physical and digital, Sony says the sale of cards have been very prominent in the MMO’s digital store. Could this be a sign that microtransactions have taken off in anywhere that isn’t Asia?

Just read that Free Realms just hit the 3 million registered player mark as of today! This is quite an awesome accomplishment since the game launched less that 7 weeks ago… Really glad it’s going so well! I’ve been having a blast fighting robogobblins, and the racing your friends online is sweet too. If you haven’t signed up for a free account, you totally should ;)
