Itagaki is not going to be playing Bayonetta
BY Jamie Feltham Jun. 8th, 2009 More on:

Tomonobu Itagaki, ex-Team Ninja boss is an angry man. If he’s not telling people how much he hates Tekken, he’s having sexual harassment charges filed against him. Well the latest victim on his crusade is none other than Sega’s Bayonetta from the mind of Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya. As the man behind the last two Ninja Gaiden games, its clear to see why he’d be concerned about comparisons between those games and the highly anticipated Platinum Games title. Both games are 3rd person action titles from Japanese developers, so the similarities shine through right away.

Itagaki said, “If I made a similar game as a game I made in the company I quit, people would say, ‘What an idiot, can’t he make anything else?’ Well, that is more or less the opinion I have for, uh, that Bayo-something game,” big words, Mr. Itagaki, big words, “Covered in hair, is she? I dunno, Mr. Kamiya must have a lot going through his head. Well, in any case, I would first recommend laser eye surgery. I’m sure he’s not that strapped for cash, right?” Hey now, this is getting a bit nasty.

While he isn’t exactly wrong about the ambitious visual style of the game, maybe he needs to be checking his own character designs. Sega’s green haired lady may be extreme, but at least her boobs aren’t so big that it makes players doubt she can stand up straight all day. I’m looking at you, Rachel.

the man’s got a point, regardless how he delivers it. people excited over this game are simply too stupid to realize this is DMC with a different coat of paint in lieu of something genuinely different.

I was a bit disappointed with MadWorld, it’ll be interesting to see how this shapes up.
