Don’t discount the Wii as a SFIV platform
BY Sang Nguyen Jun. 13th, 2009 More on:

With Tatsunoko vs. Capcom coming to the Wii and looking great while its at it, many started to speculate what the chances are of Capcom finally converting Street Fighter IV for the system. There’s the argument of the system simply being incapable to housing the 3D/2D fighter, but then you don’t need all of the flash, just the underlying game. In a thread on Capcom-Unity speculating whether the Wii will ever see the game based on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom’s existence, Christian Svensson, the V.P. of strategic planning at Capcom, chimed in with “never is such a long time. Beyond that, I have nothing to add right now.”

Obviously this set off a mini-war of naysayers and those hopeful it’s possible. This prompted Seth Killian, Capcom’s community manager, to jump on board and add his own two cents, “While not every aspect of SFIV’s presentation would likely be possible on the Wii, the core elements are obviously possible.  As for “never happen!”–I’d hope that if Tatsunoko vs Capcom has taught us anything, it’s that we should never say never when it comes to Capcom.”

So rejoice Wii owners, I can officially announce Street Fighter IV for your system! What? Hold on…What do you mean? Oh come…I’m told I can’t do that.

Hey, take solace in the fact that whether or not SFIV ever comes to the Wii, you’ll all still have Tatsunoko vs Capcom, which seems like a really good fighter. Of course, 360 and PS3 owners get Marvel Vs Capcom 2, the best fighter of all time. Heh.
