Believe it or not but Gearbox’s Alien-based shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines, is not only still in development but is also likely to hit store shelves next year. With Rebellion’s Aliens vs Predator title stealing most of the limelight and little to no information on Gearbox’s title, many assumed the title had been cancelled by publisher Sega.

Thankfully that’s not the case. Speaking to Kotaku, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford confirmed that development is still going strong and, while not making the planned 2009 release date, should be out next year. He also stated that a DS version of the game is in development but not at Gearbox — developer WayForward Technologies may be responsible for the DS installment but there’s currently no confirmation this is the case.
