MGS Rising using brand new tech

One would think that after all the work that went into the Metal Gear Solid 4 game engine, it would get used in more than just one game, right? Not the case at all, it turns out. The recently announced Metal Gear Solid Rising will not even be using a modified version of the MGS4 engine but, so the game could “realize this multiplatform goal,” as put by Kojima Productions podcast host Sean Eyestone, will be getting a brand new one built from scratch instead. “We’re redoing the engine from scratch, and it’s going to look amazing,” Eyestone said, adding that Rising is sure to have better visuals than MGS4.

Considering we’ve seen nothing more than a piece of art with even the announcement trailer (above) showing us nothing more, it makes us wonder just how far along they really are with the project. Game engines aren’t exactly created in six months…
