Update: We’ve just been looking through Overlord II and it looks like they slipped in Flange after all. Shhh, just don’t tell the ESRB what it means!
Original story: Looks like the ESRB don’t take too kindly to characters named after a particular brand of bodily fluid. According to the makers of Overlord II the ratings board didn’t see the funny side when they tried to name one of their characters “spunk.”
Speaking at a special event to celebrate the upcoming launch of Overlord II, Triumph Studios director Lennart Sas revealed that the name Spunk - used for one of the many little ‘minion’ critters from the series - was frowned upon by the ESRB. Presumably trying to ensure a Teen rating, Triumph immediately mopped Spunk up and disposed of him.
The game’s British writer Rhianna Pratchett also revealed the creative process for naming the rest of the minions, saying that she searched high and low for the nastiest words. Also tossed into the Kleenex bin of rejection were Postule, Pus and Flange - which to Brits is a euphemism for… y’know what, don’t worry about it.
Look out for a full interview with the Overlord series’ writer Rhianna Pratchett on TVGB soon.

It can also be taken as “he’s got a lot of spunk”. Them making a big deal about it just reminded me that word can be taken a different way.

they didn’t make a big deal, it was just a funny aside…
and it was definitely meant in the man-muck sense :D

Quality. I’ve never heard of a character called Flange before. Does he have a brother called Minge?

Taking the character out of the game is a big deal to me I guess - part of my job is creating characters, and when the client or the boss wants to alter its persona or get rid of it, its kinda sad! Guess I get too attached to my creations :P

Haha. Minge, Flange and Gash, the ultimate comedy triple-act.
I’d pay to see ‘em!

But if they are old enough to even realize what ’spunk’ is a reference to, they already know, so what are they being shielded from??

Wow, what a triple-act! I think I might have seen ‘em in Bangkok. Plus their cousin, Hairy Axe Wound.
