Games on Demand goes up, gets pulled, hints new content

Before E3, during their pre-E3 luncheon, Microsoft announced that full versions of originally retail-only 360 games would be heading to Xbox LIVE Marketplace this August. These ‘Games on Demand’ would be priced like their in-store counterparts and could be purchased with MS Points or a credit card.

Rolling out nearly two months early through the Marketplace RSS feed (as snagged by was information for Mass Effect. While this info has certainly been pulled, the ghost form still lingers on the net. And what does it have for us within? Well, Mass Effect is coming to Games on Demand. Not so much big news there as this was mentioned by MS back at their pre-E3 luncheon.

But this new, downloadable version comes with some extra content. From the feed we learned that purchasers will “Download new systems and worlds to visit! Meet new characters and encounter never before seen alien species! Find new weapons, armor and items as you experience a whole new adventure!” And that’s all the new info we’ve learned. Color it confirmed? Not yet, but certainly keep it in mind.

Now, the bad news? Those of us that have yet to upgrade our 20 gig hard drives are likely cursing the sky with raised fists.
