Empire: Total War sale hits Steam, prepares major update and free units

Still not sure if Empire: Total War is a game you want to pick up at full price? Look no further, it’s now 50% off at Steam for both the standard edition and the Special Units pack, just in time for a major update that is expected to hit on the 22nd, the feature list for which has been posted on the Empire: Total War blog.

The update, which is said to incorporate multi-threading for those with multi-core processors and additional optimizations to increase performance on single cores, is also the patch that will include several free units including the Scots which are infantry used by the United Provinces and the Swedish Lifeguard Horse which is tasked with guarding the monarch on the battlefield. Wasn’t exactly what one was expecting when it said Lifeguard Horse but since there aren’t many beaches in Empire, it’s not surprising.
