E3 Game Critics Awards announced, Uncharted 2 wins Best of Show
BY Lee Bradley Jun. 24th, 2009 More on:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the big winner of the E3 2009 Game Critics Awards, scooping the prestigious Best Of Show award, alongside Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game. Scribblenauts was the only other game to take home multiple honours, pocketing Best Original Game and Best Handheld Game.

The Game Critics Awards are voted for by a panel of editors from 29 North American videogame media outlets. Eligible games must be available to play at the show, though not necessarily to everyone. Occasionally playable demos are presented to the panel behind closed doors, or even at special pre-event previews, leading some to question the judging process.

Regardless, E3 Best in Show is an indication not just of quality but also of commercial clout. Since 2002, all videogame winners of the title (hardware is also eligible) have sold more than 1 million units at retail. Recent winners include Fallout 3, Half-Life 2, Spore and Rock Band.

I really can not wait for this game. The first one was mindblowing, this one just seems unreal.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t get it. Uncharted 2 is a great looking game, but was it chosen because it is so awesome or because there was a total lack of anything else?

I’m not surprised. I’m, by far, the most excited about this game this year. Mass Effect 2 is perhaps a close second.
