The Lord of the Rings taking the war to the north
BY Jeremy Hill Jun. 26th, 2009 More on:

The Lord of the Rings is one of those franchises that refuses to go away. The gaming world has taken a particular interest in LOTR and has spawned many games based around the lore of the story. It’s with great pride and little surprise that we learn that another game has been trademarked by The Saul Zaentz Company.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North was filed on June 22, 2009 under the categories of videogame software, interactive videogame programs and any other variation of the term you can think of. It’s unclear what genre the game will fall under or who is attached to the project.

The Saul Zaentz Company is based out of Berkeley, California and owns the rights to The Lord of the Rings as well as The Hobbit. We’ve seen games trademarked before and it usually takes a while for anything at all to materialize. One thing is confirmed - it’ll probably be somewhere in the north.
