Uncharted goes Hollywood
BY Kristen Spencer Jun. 26th, 2009 More on:

Somebody get me a paper bag, ’cause I just found out that dreamy treasure hunter extraordinaire Nathan Drake is going to be immortalized on celluloid, courtesy of Columbia Pictures. Breathe Kristen, breathe.

The studio is developing the best-selling first game in the soon to be series, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, with Kyle Ward tapped to write the adaptation to be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner. Ward has already adapted Kane & Lynch for Lionsgate, with Bruce Willis attached to star as the former titular mercenary, and has been hired to pen Hitman 2 for 20th Century Fox.

No word yet on a possible director or casting, which is why I need that f*cking paper bag. And the phone number of Nathan Fillion’s agent. Let’s make movie magic, people!

But better that it happen in a post-Dark Knight, post-Watchmen world where game/comic adaptations at least have a chance at credibility, right? The game really was like a movie already, but if they can get Malcom “Mal” Reynolds to don those wet jeans, color me front row baby!

I do agree with Dennis, but I’m not necessarily against it. It could be very good, but knowing Hollywood, they’ll ruin it.
