id making a new ip?
BY Marcus Wintzer Jul. 2nd, 2009 More on:

Buyouts happen. Sometimes it’s a good thing, other times it’s bad. In the case of ZeniMax getting id Software, everyone involved with the buyout was excited about what it could mean. Whether it was by getting ahold of the guys who made the FPS genre with games like DOOM and Quake, or by getting a little more money to throw around, both sides were pleased with the deal. And now gamers might have something to be excited about too. In an article at techradar.com, Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda, hinted that there could be a new game in the works. While id currently has teams working on Rage and DOOM 4, Hines says, “They’d like to start building up a full third team and, as a result of this deal, they’ll be able to do that more quickly than they could have previously.” In other words, thanks to the buyout, id can afford a third team to work on a new project, and we can look forward to seeing the results.
